Feelin’ fresh to me…

Feelin’ fresh to me…

posted on Tuesday January 11, 2011 | in The Crystal Tearoom | 10 Comments

I think Celine Pre-fall is kinda spot-on. For whatever reason I think the Russian post-soviet colors are hitting mainstream, I think it’s the right time for it now.  White shoes and burgundy stockings, beige and black and olive green too.  All the colors that shouldn’t go are going now.  I’ve been thinking of this palette ever since I first went to Moscow a few years ago.  At first I found it so off putting but just like the lingering taste of caviar I couldn’t just dismiss it either and I’ve been trying to figure out ways to re-interpret it to suit me.  I think Celine did a nice job of it.  Below a couple of the color schemes I first encountered in Russia.

I am enamoured by the styling! It just works seamlessly. You are right all the colors that shouldn’t work…work.
Sidenote: I need the green coat in my life! PRONTO!

The woman on the left reminds me of my late grandmother Jessie Mae Henderson. The most stylish southern woman I knew growing up. Thank goodness I am able to carry her legacy forward with a few key pieces from her closet. I’m loving the colors in the photo.

I hope to visit Moscow soon.

I agree, that coat on the far right is amazing. I’ve always wanted one awesome statement coat, because in the winter in NYC it’s all you’re ever seen in. And this one looks like it will wear well because of the finish.

your description of the post-soviet color spectrum is spot on… truly a curator’s imagination! i am so drawn to celine’s consistent reinterpretation of fashion along the ages. hope you are well. i am still inspired by your demure self-presentation at miu miu musing. what a delight.

Just bought some deep maroon socks like these and can’t believe how much I love them. Beautiful palette in these looks!
