As the models came down the runway last spring for Miu Miu’s fall 2011 collection, Kate Bush’s The Infant Kiss dreamily filled the halls of the Palais d’Iéna.
With square shoulders and soft yet sculptured hair the feel was that of Joan Crawford and Katherine Hepburn 1940′s elegance. For fashion’s night out, Miu Miu is inviting the public to channel this period, at it’s New York 57th Street and Milan Sant Andrea’s boutiques. There will be a small set where the public stars of the night can come get photographed in film noir splendour. Whoever best captures the allure of that period will be treated generously by Miu Miu.
I’m thinking how best I can translate this period for today and dug up some photos from the web. I’m getting inspired.
One of my favorite actresses Katherine Hepburn. She stars in one of my favorite films, "Suddenly Last Summer."

Love, love, love the style of this era. A mish mash of masculine, feminine, flimsy and structured. A red lip seems appropo. What’s your recommendation for the perfect red lip a la Gabrielle Union in your muse pic?
I had the perfect one from Revlon for a while but I don’t know the name. Sephora also makes a really great one as does Dior.

I love this storyboard! I know this is was for the FNO event, but right now I’m really inspired by this decade. Aesthetically, It’s a little more subtle than the 50s, not as obvious as the 60s, etc!
