Melodie is a fellow island girl, just about an hour by boat from my little island.
On clear nights I could see Martinique with its lights from the town of Gros-Islet.
Melodie like me speaks creole and knows what a basin is, a river is, a banana is
and I’m pretty sure she knows who Aimé Fernand David Césaire is.
If you look a little further you will see that Aimé Fernand David Césaire not only knew the meaning and value of bananas, and have Picasso illustrate one of his books of poetry, but was also given a state funeral by the French President Nicolas Sarkozy in 2008. I know who Aime Cesare is and I read him a little. I speak creole too, but probably not the same creole as you (haitian creole) :D
